Content Designer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, United States; hybrid work model with 3 days in the office per week. Relocation assistance is available to new employees.

Salary: $287,000–$318,000 annual base pay, plus equity, performance-related bonuses for eligible employees, and benefits.

What you will do

• Shape content strategy for experiences that help users discover ChatGPT’s value, get started, and return to meaningful product uses, including notifications.
• Design, implement, and iterate on prompt frameworks for AI-generated product content and messaging.
• Define content quality standards and build evaluation systems, datasets, and reviewer guidance combining human judgment with automated assessments.
• Develop tools and workflows for generating, reviewing, and improving content across experiments and product experiences.
• Analyze model outputs and evaluation results to diagnose issues and improve content systems as models, products, and user needs evolve.
• Partner with product, engineering, design, research, and data science, while documenting reusable approaches and coaching other Content Designers.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in content design, content engineering, or a related discipline, with experience delivering work across complex product areas.
• Hands-on experience developing prompts for shipped generative AI experiences and understanding model capabilities, limitations, and failure patterns.
• Experience designing and implementing content evaluation frameworks and validating their reliability in assessing quality.
• Hands-on experience using code and APIs to build repeatable generation and evaluation workflows, with the ability to partner with Engineering on production integration.
• Strong writing, editorial judgment, and content strategy skills applicable across product experiences.
• Ability to turn qualitative and quantitative evidence into clear recommendations and demonstrate improvements in content quality, team effectiveness, or product outcomes.
• Ability to collaborate across technical and nontechnical teams and bring structure and clarity to ambiguous problems and evolving requirements.
