Resident Networking Consultant - Service Provider (Juniper)

Location: Remote/Teleworker, based in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada

Salary: CAD 153,000–203,000 annual base salary in Ontario, Canada

What you will do

• Troubleshoot HPE Juniper equipment and network problems, open and track JTAC cases, and support pre-production and production environments.
• Lead network information-gathering and technology workshops with customers to understand existing designs, technical requirements, organizational structures, and support processes.
• Assess network health and develop fault-diagnosis procedures, network operating procedures, configuration standards, and implementation plans.
• Prepare regular status reports covering design projects, equipment, and network problems, including workarounds and solutions.
• Train customer design, implementation, and support personnel to configure and operate HPE Juniper products.
• Coordinate with HPE Juniper subject-matter experts and peer resident engineers during software implementations, major upgrades, maintenance windows, and network changes.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of design, implementation, and operational experience in large-scale IP networks, plus 10 or more years of overall experience.
• Large-scale experience with Juniper MX, PTX, SRX, Apstra, and ACX routing devices, as well as JUNOS CLI.
• Knowledge of IP service-provider network protocols and technologies, including TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, CGNAT, routing policy, BGP peering, VPNs, MPLS, L3VPN, VPLS, MVPN, Ethernet switching, 802.1Q, and QoS/class of service.
• Background in automation with Ansible, YAML, and HPE Juniper PyEZ, together with experience writing Python automation scripts.
• Ability to communicate effectively during crises with audiences ranging from Engineering and Operations to CIO and CISO levels.
• Ability to refine and translate complex requirements and execute best-practice solutions.
• Experience assisting with major network upgrades, maintenance windows, and customer-network changes.
• Strong customer-interface, presentation, written, verbal communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, another engineering discipline, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Ability to use and evaluate engineering design tools and software packages, review material specifications and hardware/software/electrical component designs, and evaluate analysis, modeling, and testing methods.
• Mastery of English and the local language, with the ability to communicate product architectures and design proposals and negotiate options at senior-management levels.
