Software Engineer II (Remote) (.NET/React)

Location: Remote; candidates must reside at hire in AL, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, IL, IN, KY, MA, MI, MN, MO, NC, NE, NJ, NV, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WI, or WV. Office location: Oak Brook, Illinois, United States. Relocation assistance is not provided.

Salary: $87,000-$111,000 per year, with possible incentive and bonus opportunities.

What you will do

• Build scalable user experiences and API/service-based solutions across the full product development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with users, architects, engineers, designers, and product managers on software ideation, technical design, and architecture.
• Design and develop macro- and microservices that meet security, performance, maintainability, scalability, usability, and reliability requirements.
• Implement responsive designs, test-first and acceptance-criteria-driven development, automated testing, and code reviews.
• Document software using flowcharts, layouts, charts, diagrams, and related documentation.
• Provide peer guidance and contribute to continuous improvement in a cross-functional Agile and DevOps team.

Requirements

• 2-4 years of experience in software product development.
• Proficiency with .NET 6 or later, C# 10 or later, React 16 or later, Redux, TypeScript, MS SQL Server, MongoDB, and identity providers.
• Experience delivering robust and scalable front-end and back-end solutions, integrating external systems through REST, SOAP, or other relevant protocols.
• Experience with automated pipelines, source code management using Git, OCI-compliant containers, and container hosting or management systems such as Kubernetes, Azure Container Instances, App Service, or OpenShift.
• Knowledge of design patterns, CQRS, Domain-Driven Design, identity-provider practices, object-oriented programming, automated testing, debugging, logging, metrics, and tracing.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance in an Agile or Scaled Agile environment; experience with Scrum, Kanban, Extreme Programming, or another outcome-based iterative approach is required.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, written, verbal, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Understanding of secure coding, security controls, security-focused testing, system design, architecture, scalability, performance optimization, and regulatory standards including GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS, and ISO 27001.
• Ability to divide large solutions into sprint-sized coding tasks and adapt to changing requirements, deadlines, and technologies.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related engineering or science-based technical discipline.
• Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate certification.
• Microsoft Certified Azure DevOps Engineer expertise.
• Experience with Azure, hybrid and cloud-based environments, infrastructure as code, and automated pipelines with audit, quality, and security controls.
• Experience with Docker and development frameworks or tools such as Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ, Angular, Flutter, or React Native.
