Data Scientist, Risk (Sports Betting)

Location: Hybrid role based in Jersey City, New Jersey, United States.

Salary: $116,000–$145,000 USD annually, depending on experience, location, business needs, and market demand.

What you will do

• Develop, iterate, and deploy machine learning models for Sportsbook risk management.
• Improve pricing techniques and work with trading teams to optimize betting limits and customer profiling.
• Construct models, analyses, and solutions in response to stakeholder and colleague questions.
• Manage data preparation from collection through cleaning and build robust predictive models using feature and model selection.
• Contribute to a production code environment and communicate effectively with decision-makers across the company.
• Create dashboards and data visualizations to support analysis and communicate insights.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1 year of industry experience in data science, analytics, or engineering preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in a highly numerate major such as mathematics, statistics, or economics, or relevant data science experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with high proficiency in Python or R and SQL.
• Understanding and application of Bayesian statistics.
• Experience building and using models for production-level products and tools.
• Comfort with command-line tools and GitHub.
• Object-oriented design and coding skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work across teams, locations, and time zones.

• Interest or experience in sports gaming and/or fantasy sports.
