Workday Payroll Associate Manager (Workday Payroll)

Location: Home worker in the United States or Canada, including Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec, or Toronto, Ontario. Remote work is expected, with travel to customer sites in the same region and minimal out-of-region travel if required.

What you will do

• Implement and configure enterprise-scale Workday Payroll solutions aligned with customer needs and commercial requirements.
• Build customer relationships, assess business requirements, provide guidance, and manage expectations.
• Develop complex payroll calculations, configure multiple positions and FEINs, and support end-to-end implementations.
• Present solutions to senior client audiences and communicate with customers and colleagues in remote working environments.
• Mentor, support, and potentially line-manage junior consultants while acting as a role model within the capability.
• Improve tools and processes, assist AMS with subject-matter questions, rotate through Workday delivery services, and contribute to internal PATT discussions.

Requirements

• At least 2–3 years of Workday Payroll implementation experience, including at least 2 years configuring Workday Payroll implementations end to end within the last 3 years.
• Workday United States Payroll certification.
• Ability to build complex payroll calculations and experience with multiple positions and multiple FEIN implementations.
• Strong understanding of US state taxes, local taxes, and FLSA calculations.
• Understanding of Workday Payroll, US Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence, including their interdependencies with Benefits, Time Tracking, Absence, and other cross-functional capabilities.
• Experience with payroll regulatory requirements including tax, garnishments, Common Pay Master, retirement benefits such as 401(k), payroll processing, unions or collective bargaining agreements, and payroll accounting.
• Excellent customer focus, relationship-building, customer-expectation management, and the ability to push back or escalate when appropriate.
• Strong communication and formal presentation skills for senior client audiences, including communication in remote working situations.
• Strong commercial awareness, understanding of project and business dynamics, and understanding of utilization targets in a services organization.
• Ability to work to tight deadlines, make balanced decisions under pressure, mentor or line-manage junior consultants, support AMS, improve tools or processes, rotate through delivery services, and travel to customer sites when required.

Nice to have

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or another professional qualification in the area of expertise.
• Experience in post-deployment services.
