Senior Software Development Engineer - Data Cloud

Location: Pleasanton, California, United States; Flex hybrid work with at least 50% of each quarter spent in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, or partners depending on the role.

Annual base salary: $190,100–$285,100 USD for the primary Pleasanton location; $160,100–$285,100 USD for additional US locations. The role may also be eligible for a bonus plan, role-specific commission or bonus, and annual refresh stock grants.

What you will do

• Build and enhance hirify.global Data Cloud within the Data Platform Engineering organization.
• Architect and develop features for distributed ingestion, transaction processing, and query processing engines.
• Develop algorithms and techniques for fast, efficient transactions and queries over large-scale data.
• Design solutions for a multi-tenant cloud environment.
• Collaborate with engineering teams and clearly communicate novel solutions and their value to stakeholders.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience using Java, Scala, C++, Go, or Rust.
• 3+ years of development experience in relevant areas such as database internals, distributed system applications, JVM performance tuning, or cloud/SaaS services.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field, or a master’s degree in Computer Science or a relevant field.
• Passion for software development and ability to work with well-defined abstractions.
• Interest in learning about and developing data management and distributed data processing systems and algorithms.
• Background in data warehousing, database system internals, and/or distributed systems.
• Expertise in distributed data processing engines or data management systems.
• Strong understanding of SQL.
• Ability to learn and explore new technical areas, languages, and frameworks.

Nice to have

• Experience with one or more of Kubernetes, Apache Spark and Spark SQL internals, Apache Iceberg and zero-copy architectures, Apache Polaris, Trino, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or DuckDB.
