Data Engineer (Temporary)

Location: Remote in Lima, Peru; availability to overlap with Pacific Time, primarily from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PT

What you will do

• Build and maintain ETL pipelines between Zuora REST APIs and a GCP data warehouse.
• Develop and maintain integration components using TypeScript/Node.js and Python.
• Manage transformation logic for billing events, subscription lifecycles, invoices, payments, and revenue data.
• Develop pipelines with BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
• Implement monitoring, alerting, error handling, retry logic, and data-quality controls.
• Investigate pipeline failures and data discrepancies, write SQL validation queries, and collaborate with the Business Architect on validation requirements.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, integration development, or related roles.
• Production experience building ETL or data-integration pipelines with TypeScript and Node.js.
• Strong Python experience focused on data-pipeline development.
• Hands-on experience with GCP services including BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Dataflow, and Pub/Sub.
• Experience integrating REST APIs using OAuth 2.0, pagination, error handling, and retry mechanisms.
• Advanced SQL skills and experience with complex data warehouse schemas.
• Experience developing data-transformation logic and data-quality validations.
• Understanding of pipeline monitoring, alerting, failure recovery, operational support, established architectures, coding conventions, and CI/CD workflows.
• Ability to onboard independently and become productive in an existing codebase with minimal guidance.
• Strong written communication skills, async-first collaboration experience, and working English proficiency for daily collaboration with an international team.
• Availability to overlap with Pacific Time, primarily between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. PT.

Nice to have

• Experience working with Zuora REST APIs and ZOQL.
• Knowledge of the Zuora billing object model, including subscriptions, invoices, and payments.
• Experience using dbt or similar data-transformation frameworks.
• GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
