Electro-Mechanical Design Engineer (Industrial Electronics)

Location: Springfield, Virginia, United States

Salary: $95,000–$178,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility.

What you will do

• Design, rapidly prototype, and develop electrical systems and new product platforms from proof of concept through production release.
• Integrate electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and fluid-dynamics systems with required safety features and certifications.
• Develop industrial sensor and transducer interfaces supporting product performance, accuracy, repeatability, reliability, and robustness.
• Lead cross-functional design and troubleshooting meetings, track project status and risks, and recommend schedule countermeasures.
• Support product lifecycle management, engineering-to-production transitions, field troubleshooting, documentation, and service activities.
• Visit customers and vendors, manage system certifications and ISO conformance, and train production and field-service personnel.

Requirements

• Minimum 7 years of engineering experience in a highly technical environment, including industrial electronics circuit design related to EMI/EMC, automation, water, air, and vacuum systems.
• Experience with PSPICE and electrical CAD tools such as KiCAD, OrCAD, Allegro, Altium, or similar.
• Experience with embedded software and PLC programming based on microcontrollers, including IO controller design using STM, TI, or Arduino microcontrollers.
• Experience with CAN, RS422, RS485, I2C, and SPI serial communications.
• Experience with industrial measurement equipment, including DAQ systems, oscilloscopes, and National Instruments devices.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, written and verbal communication, listening, and leadership skills.
• Strong time-management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Proficiency with MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.

Nice to have

• Experience designing semiconductor equipment.
• Experience designing equipment for cleanroom environments.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering.
• Experience in technical project management, including schedule maintenance and cross-functional coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
