TL;DR
Senior Mechanical Engineer – Integration & Applications (Robotics): Integrating robotic piece-picking systems into customer-specific warehouse layouts with an accent on cell guarding, structural mounting, 3D CAD, safety compliance, and partner-facing documentation. Focus on reviewing integration designs, supporting conveyor and controls interfaces, managing multiple partner projects, and solving complex mechanical and safeguarding challenges at customer sites.
hirify.global is a global technology company developing software-orchestrated warehouse automation and robotic fulfillment systems.
What you will do
Act as the technical point of contact for partners and system integrators adapting robotic arms and piece-picking solutions to customer processes, layouts, and space constraints.
Assess structural and mounting requirements for robotic equipment, including mezzanines, platforms, building structures, load conditions, and robot-cell safeguarding.
Define product variations, integration guidelines, installation requirements, and partner-facing technical documentation with the Documentation team.
Create CAD layouts, 3D models, engineering drawings, guarding solutions, and mounting designs; review partner proposals and provide actionable feedback.
Support integration with conveyors, legacy material-handling equipment, PLC logic, safety I/O, and wiring interfaces.
Manage multiple partner projects while supporting design, prototyping, verification testing, root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, and feedback to Product and Engineering.
Requirements
7+ years of mechanical engineering experience in robotics, automation, material handling, or machine integration, ideally in a customer- or partner-facing role.
Familiarity with robotic work-cell safety technologies, including hard guarding, interlocked doors, light curtains, area scanners, safety mats, emergency stops, safety PLCs or relays, and software-based safety zones and speed/separation monitoring.
Mechanical design experience with 3D CAD such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, Inventor, NX, or similar for robot-cell layouts, guarding, mounting structures, and engineering drawings.
Experience with conveyor systems and traditional material-handling equipment.
Understanding of structural and mounting considerations, including load paths, anchoring, vibration, and mezzanine or platform interfaces.
Ability to work with vendors, partners, system integrators, and other stakeholders across multiple organizational layers.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong organization and follow-through.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear technical documentation.
Bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
Nice to have
Working knowledge of robot-cell and machine-safeguarding standards, including EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Machinery Regulation (EU) 2023/1230, ISO 10218-1/-2, ISO 13849-1, ANSI/A3 R15.06, ANSI B11.19, and OSHA 29 CFR 1910.212.
Ability to read PLC control logic, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams and discuss them with controls engineers.
Experience with AMRs/AGVs, put walls, palletizing and depalletizing, pouch or pocket sorters, shuttle systems, and other fulfillment technologies.
Experience integrating robotic piece-picking or other AI- or vision-guided robotic systems.
Experience with CE marking, technical files, third-party safety audits, or risk assessments.
Hands-on commissioning or site-integration experience in warehouse or distribution-center environments.
Culture & Benefits
Supportive and rewarding work environment focused on making warehouse automation easier, faster, and more efficient.
Medical, dental, and vision plans, plus a Health Savings Account with a company contribution.
Paid time off including 12 holidays, paid exercise time, paid volunteer time, and paid parental leave for all new parents.
