Automation Manager (Operational Technology - Moulding)

Location: Billund, Denmark; hybrid work with the option to work from home up to two days per week. The role includes 30–40 days of travel per year.

What you will do

• Own production software, automation equipment, robotics, network infrastructure, and connected equipment across the lifecycle of a global moulding automation platform.
• Develop global platform standards across moulding operations and improve productivity, reliability, usability, security, and scalability.
• Integrate new automation technologies and deliver solutions for new products and evolving production needs.
• Coordinate goals, planning, and strategy between Manufacturing Design & Implementation, Operational Technology, R&D, maintenance, and production.
• Support consistent and reliable automation solutions across global moulding operations and travel internationally to support deployment.

Requirements

• Delivered PLC design, programming, installation, and troubleshooting in industrial automation environments.
• Managed complex automation platforms involving PLCs and robotic applications.
• Applied industrial network technologies including Ethernet/IP and OPC UA.
• Implemented functional safety solutions using safety controllers and electrical systems.
• Produced and interpreted technical specifications, equipment requirements, and electrical drawings.
• Communicated clearly, coordinated across departments, understood complex company policies, and supported planning and strategy.
• Willingness to learn, solve problems, and continuously improve automation solutions.

Nice to have

• Programmed and maintained 6-axis or cartesian robotic systems in production settings.
• Worked with KUKA robotic systems, preferably KR C5.
• Used production data and network solutions to support automation improvements.
• Demonstrated fluent technical English in a global engineering environment.
