Critical Mechanical Systems Specialist (Data Center)

Location: Remote; approximately 50% travel to supported sites. Supports 24×7 operations with occasional on-call rotation and night/weekend work.

What you will do

• Lead commissioning oversight for new capacity and infrastructure projects at operational data centers, validating mechanical performance and control sequences.
• Track and close defects and punch-list items identified before and during commissioning.
• Validate operational procedures after turnover and before customer load deployment.
• Standardize mechanical turnover documentation, ensure repository storage, and verify operator training and Day 1 readiness.
• Conduct site inspections and infrastructure audits focused on mechanical reliability, efficiency, and risk, and drive mitigation-plan closure.
• Bridge design and operations by documenting field changes, communicating operational impacts, and coordinating readiness improvements with Design & Construction, Commissioning, Site Operations, and Reliability Engineering.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in mission-critical facilities, with depth in chilled-water plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, heat rejection, and control systems/BMS.
• Working fluency with ASHRAE TC9.9 guidance, hydronics and ventilation codes and standards, and commissioning methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with submittal reviews, sequences of operations, functional performance testing, and punch-list closeout.
• Strong documentation discipline, stakeholder communication, and the ability to drive multi-site mechanical programs.
• Strong analytical skills and experience with testing and commissioning methodologies.
• Experience with CMMS, DCIM/BMS integrations, and incident/root-cause analysis processes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work in mechanical and electrical rooms around energized systems while following LOTO and NFPA 70E requirements.

Nice to have

• PMP, AHRAE certification, or PE credentials.
