2027 Spring Co-op RNA Production (mRNA)

Location: Waltham, MA, United States; primarily lab-based and onsite. Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, for the full 6-month co-op.

Salary: $35.00–$47.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Support batch production, characterization, and optimization of mRNA processes for mRNA drug targets.
• Synthesize and purify a wide range of mRNA constructs in parallel to advance development programs.
• Execute accurate and reproducible analytical characterization for the full release panel of mRNA drug substance.
• Optimize mRNA sequence design, production, and purification workflows.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies while optimizing existing platform workflows.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a master’s degree in life sciences, molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, or biotechnology, with plans to graduate in Spring 2027 or 2028.
• Must be permanently authorized to work in the United States and must not require employment visa sponsorship at the time of application or in the future. Students on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT generally do not meet the program requirements unless eligible for an alternative long-term status without company sponsorship.
• Must remain enrolled in an accredited college or university throughout the co-op or internship.
• Must be able to relocate to the office location and work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, for the full duration of the co-op or internship.

Nice to have

• Experience in nucleic acid synthesis, RNase-free handling, or applications, including hands-on mRNA production and characterization.
• Hands-on experience with capillary and gel electrophoresis.
• Hands-on experience with analytical and molecular biology methods relevant to mRNA.
• Ability to work in a team-first, fast-paced environment, learn new skills, and solve problems efficiently.
• Attention to detail and meticulous record keeping.
• Effective time management and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
