TL;DR
Senior Accountant, Global Accounting - Fixed Assets (Fixed Asset Accounting/US GAAP): Managing complex fixed asset accounting, reporting, reconciliations, and close activities across multiple markets with an accent on capitalization, impairment, compliance, and capital expenditure analysis. Focus on improving and automating processes, supporting audits and system implementations, and providing technical guidance to global stakeholders.

Location: Escazu, Costa Rica; hybrid work arrangement.

What you will do

  • Manage complex fixed asset transactions, including capitalizations, transfers, retirements, disposals, impairments, and write-offs.
  • Review Construction in Progress projects, perform balance sheet reconciliations and account analyses, and lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, accounting policies, and internal controls.
  • Partner with Finance and business teams on capital investment initiatives and asset-related issues.
  • Prepare capital expenditure, depreciation, and cash flow reporting and support internal and external audits.
  • Identify process improvement and automation opportunities and participate in system implementations, process transformations, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience, including significant experience in fixed assets.
  • Strong knowledge of fixed asset accounting and US GAAP.
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Fluent English.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a multinational or shared services environment.
  • Knowledge of SOX controls.
  • Experience with reporting and planning tools such as FCCS, Smart View, AFO, or Power BI.
  • Experience leading process improvement or automation initiatives.
