Senior Manager, Environmental Services for the Mining Industry (Mining)

Location: London, United Kingdom; the position can be based out of hirify.global’s London office. Current or future UK work authorization is required; visa sponsorship cannot be provided.

What you will do

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams delivering complex, client-focused assignments for mining-sector clients.
• Oversee proposals, budgets, project planning, implementation, reporting, quality assurance, client relationships, and overall project performance.
• Manage partners and subcontractors, including performance and contractually compliant delivery.
• Support business development through strategic planning, pipeline forecasting, proposal development, partnerships, networking, and recruitment.
• Lead technical work on environmental risk management, biodiversity, decarbonization, major hazards, tailings, waste, water, air quality, rehabilitation, climate finance, and nature-based solutions.
• Develop environmental and socioeconomic impact initiatives, technical reports, case studies, policy approaches, and results summaries related to mining closure, post-mining land use, community resilience, and just transition.

Requirements

• 7+ years of senior-level experience in client-facing management roles on large private- or public-sector projects, particularly in mining, environmental management, closure, or ESG implementation.
• 5+ years working directly with mining companies as clients.
• Fluency in English and at least one of French, Spanish, or Portuguese.
• Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Economics, Anthropology, Sociology, Business Administration, International Development, Politics, or a related discipline preferred.
• Strong networks in the mining and minerals sector and experience with emerging-market issues or contexts.
• Experience leading business development efforts and managing teams across geographies and cultures.
• Strong environmental background, including environmental risks in mining and experience designing and implementing environmental management plans or managing biodiversity, decarbonization, major hazards, tailings, waste, water, air, and rehabilitation efforts.
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks and complex projects; strong written and oral communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and financial analysis skills, including Excel-based reports and forecasts.
• Experience implementing post-mining land use programs and working during closure and rehabilitation phases of the asset lifecycle.
• Experience engaging multisector stakeholders in mining communities and regions and adapting approaches to achieve inclusive environmental and socioeconomic outcomes in emerging markets.
• Experience writing technical proposals and reports for private-sector clients and international donors, including PowerPoint and text documents, and delivering presentations to small and large groups in person and virtually.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in teams and programs.
