Principal Solution Architect (Financial Services)

Location: Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, or Houston, United States; minimum three days per week working in person at a client location or Bain home office; regional travel required.

Annual full-time salary: $168,500–$206,000 in Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, and Texas; $191,000–$234,500 in New York City. Other locations follow competitive geographic market rates. Additional discretionary compensation may apply.

What you will do

• Lead enterprise, solution, cloud, and data architecture aligned with client business outcomes.
• Develop architecture roadmaps, frameworks, and reference models supporting modernization, AI integration, and long-term value creation.
• Assess and integrate vendor platforms, fintech solutions, and AWS, Azure, and GCP technologies.
• Advise CIOs, CTOs, chief architects, and senior executives on architectural decisions and trade-offs.
• Guide consulting and client teams through roadmap execution, governance, risk management, and agile or MVP delivery.
• Contribute to architecture thought leadership, proposals, client discussions, and financial-services market development.

Requirements

• 15+ years of architecture and technology leadership experience, including enterprise, solution, and data architecture strategy; exceptional candidates with fewer years and outstanding impact may be considered.
• Demonstrated experience advising senior business and technology leaders on complex, large-scale transformation programs.
• Deep Financial Services expertise, including core banking, payments, and modernization, is strongly preferred.
• Strong technical depth in cloud, data, AI, security, operational resilience, APIs, and event-driven design.
• Mastery of architecture frameworks such as TOGAF or ITABoK and fluency in cloud-native and AI-enabled architectures.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills, with the ability to connect business strategy and technology execution.
• Recognized contribution to the architecture or technology community, including sharing expertise and perspectives.
• High emotional intelligence and experience leading, mentoring, and inspiring diverse cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work in person at least three days per week and travel regionally as required by projects.
