Consultant, Backend Developer

Location: Toronto, ON; hybrid work arrangement with 1–3 days per week on-site and the remaining days remote. Must be legally eligible to work at the specified location and, where applicable, hold a valid work or study permit.

What you will do

• Deliver complex, enterprise-scale mobile projects involving multiple back-end systems for iOS and Android.
• Assemble, implement, and maintain flexible, personalized solutions that enhance the client experience.
• Lead technical planning, API design, development, and application integration based on business requirements and system architecture.
• Develop complex system and business logic using appropriate design patterns and development best practices.
• Lead next-level operational support, troubleshooting, problem solving, and performance tuning.
• Coach junior developers and provide technical guidance while promoting continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in Java/J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, and web services including SOAP, JSON, and RESTful services.
• At least 3+ years of hands-on experience in microservices and API development in an enterprise environment.
• At least 1 year of experience with cloud environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• At least 1 year of experience with containerization using OpenShift or Kubernetes.
• Ability to analyze business requirements, follow system architecture and high-level design, and apply modern development concepts and processes.
• Problem-solving, troubleshooting, performance-tuning, analytical-thinking, application-development, applications-programming, Java API, and SQL skills.
• Ability to coach junior developers and provide technical guidance.
• Adaptability to technology changes, collaboration, continuous learning, and commitment to high standards and client relationships.
• Ability to complete an attribute-based assessment and other skills tests, which may include coding or French proficiency testing.

Nice to have

• Experience with banking application development.
• Understanding of modern technology and modern development culture.
