Director, Facilities (Biotech)

Location: Boulder, Colorado, United States; onsite. Local candidates preferred. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and disclose whether visa sponsorship may be required.

Base compensation: $140,000–$160,000 annually, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Develop and execute long-term facilities strategy aligned with company growth, scientific innovation, and operational efficiency.
• Lead space planning, laboratory expansions, equipment commissioning, office renovations, and infrastructure upgrades.
• Oversee building systems, critical manufacturing infrastructure, preventive maintenance, vendor management, risk management, business continuity, and emergency response.
• Manage capital projects from design through execution, including scope, budgets, timelines, contractors, and vendors.
• Ensure facilities and equipment meet local, state, and federal regulations, including ISO and OSHA standards; lead audits, inspections, documentation, and CAPAs.
• Sponsor the EH&S program, lead the EH&S committee, build a safety culture, and manage and develop facilities and EH&S personnel.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant industry experience, including 5+ years in facilities leadership or senior leadership roles.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, operations, or a related discipline.
• In-depth knowledge of complex building systems, laboratory infrastructure, and manufacturing environments.
• Strong understanding of facilities operations in regulated life science or pharmaceutical settings.
• Experience in capital project management, EH&S leadership, and regulatory compliance.
• Demonstrated success managing complex facilities operations in a fast-paced, growth-stage biotech or life sciences environment.
• Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage contractors, auditors, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, decision-making, written communication, and verbal communication skills across technical and executive audiences.
