Senior Revenue Recognition Accountant

Location: McLean, Virginia, United States; onsite, face-to-face work at the corporate headquarters

Base salary: $75,000–$175,000 USD per year; discretionary bonus may be awarded

What you will do

• Review and approve customer contracts for software and services subscription revenue, enter contracts into the accounting system, and prepare or review revenue recognition checklists.
• Apply ASC 606 standards and support revenue accounting compliance, financial controls, and accurate reporting.
• Partner with Sales Operations and the Renewals Team to create Salesforce opportunities for renewable orders and maintain past-due renewal reports.
• Support monthly revenue close activities, including reconciliation of revenue accounts, unbilled receivables, and deferred revenue.
• Prepare quarter-end analysis and reporting for current and long-term unbilled accounts receivable and deferred revenue.
• Compile documentation for external audits and support ad hoc financial reporting requests and projects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• At least 3 years of progressive experience in revenue accounting or corporate accounting.
• Proficiency in preparing journal entries and account reconciliations within an enterprise corporate environment.
• Strong foundational knowledge of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles, financial control frameworks, and corporate audit procedures.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for complex financial modeling and data manipulation.

Nice to have

• Active CPA designation or active progress toward passing the CPA examinations.
• Hands-on experience with ERP financial systems such as NetSuite.
• Prior public accounting experience.
• Experience with enterprise platforms that translates to an enterprise-grade orchestration environment.
