Impact Analytics Data Analyst

Location: Remote within the United States, New York City, or Oakland, CA. Remote hires are limited to the United States. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Annual compensation: $97,000.

What you will do

• Build statistical models in Python and SQL to quantify historical impact and estimate the future impact of interventions on the justice-involved population.
• Communicate impact analysis findings to government, research, fundraising, growth, and other stakeholders with varying levels of technical expertise.
• Build automated workflows to continuously track progress in improving outcomes.
• Collaborate with impact tracking and research leads to inform data-driven product strategy.
• Define product usage and impact measures through the aggregated metrics framework and Looker.
• Consult with data analysts and data scientists on experimental and quasi-experimental rollout analysis methodologies.

Requirements

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with enthusiasm for working with internal and external partners from diverse backgrounds and worldviews, including government staff, researchers, journalists, technical staff, and criminal justice reform practitioners.
• Ability to inspect source data, reason about data models, examine results closely, and prepare data and analyses for varied applications.
• At least 2 years of practical experience exploring, analyzing, and processing complex datasets.
• Professional experience using SQL with large datasets, including high proficiency in writing efficient queries for complex data extraction and transformation.
• High familiarity with Python, specifically Pandas, for statistical analysis and data visualization.

Nice to have

• Experience with statistical analysis, especially forecasting and/or causal inference.
• Experience translating ambiguous research questions into strategic analysis plans, executing them, and recommending future actions based on results.
• Experience in a cross-functional organization that designs, builds, and launches products for users.
• Experience working with large public-sector datasets, especially those related to criminal justice.
• Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Looker, Jupyter notebooks, and Python/Pandas.
