In-house Counsel (Defense)

Location: São Paulo/SP, Brazil; four days in the office and one day working from home per week.

hirify.global Brasil operates in an international defense and security environment, with potential involvement in contracts and matters related to the Gripen programme.

What you will do

• Support the full contract lifecycle, including legal analysis, proposal preparation, negotiation, and ongoing contract oversight.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, participate in customer meetings, and develop business-oriented contractual solutions.
• Support public procurement and tender processes, particularly opportunities involving the Armed Forces.
• Identify legal risks, propose alternatives, and advise business teams and senior leadership on strategic and operational decisions.
• Manage compliance matters, including adherence to regulations, internal policies, and ethical standards.
• Support corporate, governance, local legal-process improvement, and other business-related legal matters while collaborating with teams in Brazil and abroad.

Requirements

• Law degree and active registration with the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB).
• Solid experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial agreements.
• Experience in public contracts, public procurement, and tender processes.
• Strong understanding of Brazilian public procurement legislation, including Law 14.133/2021.
• Commercial mindset and ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
• Fluency in English for meetings, negotiations, document review, and interaction with the international legal team.
• Generalist legal background with the ability to handle matters independently and recognize when specialist support is needed.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and organizational skills combined with business acumen.

Nice to have

• Experience in the defense industry or in projects and contracts involving the Armed Forces.
• Experience working in international environments and with international agreements.
• Spanish language skills.
• Postgraduate qualification in Law.
