Software Development Engineer in Test II (SDET II) (IoT)

Location: Minnetonka, Minnesota, United States; on-site at least 3 days per week. Candidates are currently considered only in AL, AR, AZ, CA, FL, GA, ID, IL, KY, MA, MD, MI, MN, MO, NC, NH, NV, OH, OK, OR, PA, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI.

Salary: $83,000–$115,000 annually, base salary.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test cases and suites within established frameworks.
• Create test strategies covering functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, performance, and reliability testing.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and improve test feedback speed, stability, and usefulness.
• Review requirements and technical designs to identify risks, edge cases, and testability concerns.
• Diagnose failures across application, test, infrastructure, and data layers while partnering with developers on root causes.
• Execute manual and exploratory testing for ELD compliance solutions, including hardware-in-the-loop testing with Android tablets, telematics devices, OBCs, and in-cabin vehicles.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3–4 years of experience in software development, test automation, or quality engineering.
• Proficiency in Python or a comparable object-oriented language such as Java, C#, Ruby, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Experience with Gherkin/BDD frameworks and mobile UI automation using Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, or similar tools.
• Experience with REST API testing, including OAuth-based authentication flows, HTTP request wrappers, and API error responses.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD systems, and Agile software development practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems using logs, metrics, traces, and debugging tools.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate with technical and nontechnical teams.

Nice to have

• Experience testing cloud applications or services in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Working knowledge of Docker, dev containers, Android testing with UiAutomator2 or adb, and test reporting tools such as Allure or ReportPortal.
• Experience with performance and load-testing tools such as k6, JMeter, or Gatling.
• Knowledge of accessibility, security, contract, resilience, observability, and production-quality monitoring practices.
• Experience improving test architecture, reducing flaky automation, or modernizing legacy test frameworks.
• Practical experience using AI coding tools and verifying and adapting AI-generated code.
• Experience mentoring engineers or leading quality initiatives across multiple teams.
• Experience in a regulated or compliance-driven domain.
