Staff Software Engineer (Rust)

Location: Remote in the United States; hirify.global also supports remote work in the UK, Singapore, and Canada.

Base salary: $200,000–$220,000 annually for the New York and California positions, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Architect and implement durable, reliable, high-performance services for the Core Services platform.
• Design synchronous and asynchronous APIs and database schemas for large distributed systems.
• Operate and scale delivery pipelines, gRPC services, Kafka infrastructure, and other high-throughput systems.
• Participate in code and design reviews, production on-call rotation, and resolution of production issues.
• Conduct data analysis, performance monitoring, benchmarking, profiling, and system optimization.
• Independently drive experiments and solutions for business needs.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience working as a software engineer.
• Experience operating reliable production systems at scale.
• Experience writing high-performance code in a compiled language such as Rust, C/C++, or Golang.
• Ability to reason about data flows through distributed systems.
• Experience using LLM-powered coding tools such as Claude.
• Bias toward automating repetitive work.

Nice to have

• Experience with Redis, Kafka, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, or gRPC.
• Experience profiling applications to improve time, CPU, and memory performance.
• Experience debugging distributed systems.
