Rust Software Engineer (Remote)

Location: Remote within the US

Salary: $180,000–$250,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Rust.
• Build reliable and scalable systems capable of handling complex workloads.
• Solve problems involving concurrency, asynchronous programming, memory efficiency, and performance optimisation.
• Design and develop APIs, services, and supporting backend infrastructure.
• Improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability as the platform scales.
• Collaborate on system architecture, technical decisions, code reviews, and feature delivery from design through deployment and production support.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, including hands-on experience building production systems with Rust.
• Good understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and performance optimisation.
• Experience designing and maintaining scalable, reliable production systems.
• Familiarity with APIs, databases, and modern cloud infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make thoughtful engineering decisions.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate within a remote engineering team.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems or high-throughput infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Tokio, Axum, Actix Web, or other Rust ecosystem technologies.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, Kubernetes, or containerised environments.
• Experience with Go, C++, or other systems programming languages.
• Performance profiling, benchmarking, and low-level optimisation experience.
