Senior Mechanical Systems Engineer (HVAC)

What you will do

• Lead the evaluation, definition, and development of advanced HVAC and thermal management solutions for U.S. Government systems.
• Assess existing cooling infrastructure and define technical requirements for modernization and future system development.
• Perform systems engineering, mechanical and HVAC design, thermal analysis, engineering trade studies, and subsystem integration.
• Support Model-Based Systems Engineering activities, requirements traceability, architectural consistency, and technical readiness for design and prototype efforts.
• Collaborate with electrical, structural, controls, and manufacturing disciplines.
• Present technical concepts, findings, and recommendations to internal teams and government stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, plus 12+ years of relevant experience.
• Technical leadership experience defining, analyzing, and integrating complex mechanical or HVAC systems, including requirements development, system architecture, and subsystem interfaces.
• Experience conducting early-phase system assessments, trade studies, and technical evaluations for modernization planning or future system development.
• Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering or structured systems engineering methods to requirements development and design alignment.
• Strong understanding of HVAC and thermal management architectures, performance analysis, environmental considerations, and system integration.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical information to managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while remaining aligned with technical objectives and customer needs.
• Ability to apply trigonometry, calculus, statistics, probability, statistical inference, geometry, and mathematical problem-solving methods.
• Knowledge of analytical presentation software such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Access, plus basic knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100.
• Active Secret Clearance required.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately +/-10%.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting U.S. Government programs involving mechanical, thermal, or environmental control systems, particularly during early system definition or modernization planning.
• Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
• Knowledge of specific design, analysis, and ERP software.
