Mission Training Complex Engineer (XR)

Location: Onsite at Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC), Huntsville, Alabama, United States.

What you will do

• Create and sustain immersive training experiences for NASA International Space Station payload operations.
• Manage the Mission Training Complex and related training infrastructure, including facilities, inventory, networks, servers, and databases.
• Develop physical rack-hardware mock-ups, reverse-engineer payload hardware, and prepare CAD models for additive manufacturing.
• Develop and maintain Unity3D, C#, and legacy LabWindows/CVI Glass Rack Trainer applications, including 3D models, textures, and XR functionality.
• Test and troubleshoot training environments, gather customer requirements, and collaborate across Payload Mission Operations Directorate disciplines.
• Teach assigned classes, lead facility tours, document work, and communicate status, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least 2 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Applied experience with 3D modeling, software-development, and hardware-development tools such as Blender, CAD, Unity3D, Articulate, or comparable applications.
• Working knowledge of learning technologies and their use in technical and immersive training environments.
• Strong project leadership, planning, troubleshooting, customer-service, communication, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
• Ability to manage changing priorities, work independently, learn quickly, and maintain awareness of broader operational objectives.
• Ability to respond to customer, regulatory-agency, and business-community inquiries; prepare reports and legal documents; write speeches and articles; and present information to management, public groups, or boards.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and proficiency with Microsoft Suite tools.
• Proficiency with systems and software for presentations and training products, data management, networks, servers, databases, 3D and XR applications, and technical documentation.
• Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts and statistical methods, define problems, analyze data, establish facts, draw conclusions, and interpret technical instructions.
• US citizenship and ability to attain and maintain a government security clearance.
• Ability to comply with applicable import/export requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in training, coordination, science, or engineering.
• Experience with Unity3D, C#, LabWindows/CVI, Blender, Articulate, CAD software, and related 3D modeling and additive-manufacturing tools, depending on assigned duties.
