What you will do

• Hold final technical authority for the architecture, design, performance, qualification, safety, configuration, and flight readiness of the complete missile weapon system.
• Lead multidisciplinary system-of-systems engineering across the missile airframe, propulsion, guidance, ordnance, electrical and avionics systems, software, ground support equipment, and system integration.
• Direct technical reviews, requirements and interface documentation, configuration control, engineering change proposals, technical review boards, and failure review boards.
• Oversee mechanical, propulsion, avionics, electrical, GNC, embedded software, seeker integration, sensor integration, and system performance decisions.
• Chair Flight Readiness Review boards, certify missile systems and supporting assets for live-fire flight testing, and oversee mission execution and post-flight evaluation at military ranges.
• Advise the Program Manager, lead milestone reviews, investigate high-consequence failures and anomalies, and mentor engineers and technical staff.

Requirements

• B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering. An M.S. or Ph.D. is strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of progressive engineering experience in missile, interceptor, or precision-guided munition development programs.
• 10+ years in a chief engineering, deputy chief engineering, lead systems engineering, or IPT lead role overseeing multidisciplinary missile or missile testbed programs.
• Experience taking at least one missile program through the full lifecycle, from initial concept through PDR/CDR, flight testing, qualification, and initial production.
• Deep technical understanding of flight dynamics, aerothermal heating, structural loads, GNC algorithms, avionics, seeker integration, propulsion, and payload integration.
• Experience leading Flight Readiness Reviews, root-cause failure investigations, and live-fire test campaigns at military ranges.
• Must hold an active US DoD Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

• Prior experience as Chief Engineer on a missile program.
• Working knowledge of military airworthiness certification, MIL-STD-882 system safety processes, and weapon safety board approvals such as S3B and WSESRB.
• Established working relationships within the Department of War weapons community, government test ranges, and technical government laboratories.
