Technical Specialist - Embedded Qt

Location: Raleigh, North Carolina, United States; remote location option within the United States. Flexible workplace policy with a required minimum number of onsite days per week. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.

Base salary: $168,000–$231,000 annually, with possible discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

• Lead the design and development of Qt Studio user-interface software architectures for medical devices.
• Define software requirements and test cases with cross-functional, Systems, Quality Assurance, and hardware engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain embedded C/C++ software and reliable interfaces with hardware components.
• Implement Qt Widgets, MVC and/or MVVM patterns, and automated tests with the Qt Squish framework.
• Maintain architecture documentation, diagrams, development and verification records, and lead design and code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers on C++ design patterns, secure coding, and embedded-systems practices while ensuring performance, reliability, security, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience focused on embedded systems and Qt Studio or similar user-interface SDKs.
• Strong Qt Studio expertise, including Qt Widgets, MVC and/or MVVM architecture patterns, and Qt Squish automated testing.
• Strong C/C++ development experience for embedded software platforms and hardware integration.
• Experience with Jenkins CI/CD, including creating and managing jobs, version-control integration, and troubleshooting pipeline issues.
• Experience with Git and collaborative software development.
• Ability to communicate complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies and a servant-leader approach to collaboration and mentorship.
• Authorization to work for any employer in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.

Nice to have

• 5+ years of experience in a regulated industry focused on software development and validation.
• Knowledge of IEC 62304, IEC 60601, ISO 14971, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and EU MDR regulations.
• Experience enforcing documentation practices covering software development plans, design documents, test plans, and validation reports.
