Senior Kubernetes & Reliability Engineer

Location: Hybrid in London, UK or Helsinki, Finland; remote from elsewhere in the EU.

What you will do

• Build Kubernetes platform capabilities for cluster creation, configuration, scaling, upgrades, health checks, and decommissioning.
• Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, post-incident reviews, capacity planning, change management, recovery procedures, and runbook improvements.
• Develop metrics, logging, tracing, alerting, health indicators, and SLOs for clusters and platform services.
• Implement GitOps-based application and infrastructure delivery with declarative configuration, version control, continuous reconciliation, drift detection, change review, and recovery from failed changes.
• Develop maintainable platform services and operational tools while contributing to design reviews, code reviews, testing, and AI-assisted diagnostics.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, SRE, or a related field, or demonstrably equivalent expertise, with independent ownership from design through deployment and maintenance.
• Deep Kubernetes expertise building, maintaining, and troubleshooting production clusters, including complex failures and upgrades, with depth in at least one of the control plane, scheduling, networking, storage, or node lifecycle.
• Strong software development skills in Go, Python, or a similar language, including production-grade services and automation, API design, idempotency, retries, error recovery, and testing.
• Experience with Linux, networking, distributed systems, incidents, releases, and capacity management, including explaining issue diagnosis, service restoration, and follow-up improvements.
• Practical observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or comparable systems, using metrics, logs, and traces to investigate issues and design actionable alerts.
• Practical GitOps experience with declarative configuration, Git version control, continuous reconciliation, and configuration drift management for Kubernetes delivery and operations.
• Ability to communicate proposals and risks clearly, balance reliability, speed, cost, and complexity, and share knowledge through documentation and reviews.

Nice to have

• Experience with managed Kubernetes services, container platforms, multi-cluster management, or customer-facing infrastructure products.
• Experience with Kubernetes Operators or controllers, Cluster API, or cloud provider API integration.
• Hands-on experience with Argo CD or Terraform, or open-source contributions to cloud-native projects.
• Experience with secrets management tools such as OpenBao, GPUs or GPU infrastructure, and LLM-based tools or AI agents for diagnostics, troubleshooting, or operations automation.
