AI Engineer (Agentic Systems)

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States; must be local to Pittsburgh, PA. Fully onsite with no remote work. No relocation help and no visa or green card sponsorship.

Salary: $80,000–$100,000 annually.

What you will do

• Design agent roles, tool schemas, memory, and human-in-the-loop review points for complex business processes with the AI architect.
• Build production orchestration with LangGraph and Microsoft Agent Framework, integrating tools through MCP and enterprise APIs.
• Integrate agents with business platforms and data flows, enforcing accuracy through validation and reconciliation checks.
• Design document retrieval using hybrid search, reranking, metadata filtering, and document-level access control.
• Build and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure with infrastructure as code and approved CI/CD pipelines while following security, identity, and networking standards.
• Establish LLMOps and security controls, including evaluation suites, guardrails, tracing, cost and latency budgets, least-privilege identity, secrets handling, audit logging, sensitive-data protection, and prompt-injection defenses; maintain documentation and report progress through Azure DevOps Boards.

Requirements

• B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. An M.S. is preferred.
• 3–6 years of software, ML, or data engineering experience, including at least 1 year building LLM applications in production.
• Expert Python, strong API design, and SQL, plus working familiarity with C#/.NET applications and Microsoft SQL Server/Azure SQL.
• At least one agentic or RAG system shipped to real users.
• Professional experience using AI coding assistants or AI development agents, including reviewing, testing, and validating AI-generated code before deployment.
• Experience developing and deploying applications in Microsoft Azure, including cloud identity, networking, containers, and serverless technologies.
• Experience with infrastructure as code and CI/CD using Azure DevOps or comparable enterprise development practices.
• Experience designing evaluation methods for LLM outputs.

Nice to have

• Experience with business automation, financial workflows, or other transaction-oriented enterprise systems.
• Experience with multi-agent systems, MCP servers, or custom tool-use frameworks.
• Experience integrating workflows and enterprise applications across CRM, ERP, financial, HR/payroll, document management, collaboration, and other SaaS platforms.
• Experience fine-tuning or serving open-weight models with vLLM, Azure Machine Learning, or approved Azure-hosted services.
• Azure AI App and Agent Developer Associate (AI-103), Azure AI Engineer Associate, Azure Developer Associate, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
