Structural Engineer (Protective Design & Security)

Location: Los Angeles, California, USA; the role includes on-site assessments, field surveys, and construction-phase activities.

Salary: $78,000–$92,000 annually.

What you will do

• Support protective design concepts and design studies covering blast effects, progressive collapse, structural hardening, and risk-informed design.
• Assist with structural analysis, modeling, calculations, and integration of structural and physical security measures.
• Prepare diagrams, calculations, technical narratives, presentations, and design documentation.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, planners, and security specialists in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Participate in on-site assessments, field surveys, and construction-phase activities.
• Develop technical, analytical, and project coordination skills in protective design and security engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering, or a closely related field.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
• Interest in protective design, security, resilience, and hazard-resistant engineering.
• Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in structural engineering, civil engineering, or a closely related field.
• Familiarity with design, visualization, documentation, and computational tools such as Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino/Grasshopper, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam, SAP2000, ETABS, or similar platforms.
