What you will do

• Report breaking news and general-assignment stories for broadcast, including researching events, interviewing sources, and presenting clear, accurate reports.
• Generate enterprise story ideas, build sources, pitch relevant local stories, and develop leads and tips.
• Shoot, write, edit, and revise news reports while determining story emphasis, length, format, and timing.
• Create and publish content for the website, social media, and streaming platforms.
• Coordinate with producers and news managers, review copy, and maintain journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Interact with viewers and users on social media and complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
• At least two years of news-reporting experience, depending on market size.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to ad lib when required.
• Engaging on-air presence and proactive response to breaking news across the Raleigh-Durham market.
• Ability to gather urgent information on-scene from witnesses and law enforcement.
• Ability to shoot, write, and edit using various technology and produce content for digital, social media, and streaming platforms.
• Ability to meet company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Flexibility to work any shift.
