Staff Data Engineer (People Analytics)

What you will do

• Build and own data systems and internal products supporting workforce decisions across hiring, growth, compensation, recruiting, executive talent reporting, alerting, and headcount planning.
• Develop pipelines, extractors, warehouses, notebooks, dashboards, forecasts, predictive models, and internal data tools across the full data lifecycle.
• Define problems, own roadmaps, ship maintained solutions, and adapt product areas as business needs change.
• Analyze workforce data and present findings directly to discipline leaders and senior executives, including the CEO.
• Work as a generalist alongside data engineers and data scientists in a small cross-functional team.

Requirements

• Strong data-generalist fundamentals with shipped work across pipelines, analysis, dashboards, forecasting, data tools, and some predictive modeling.
• Deep proficiency in SQL, Python, dbt, and Airflow.
• Ability to turn analyses into maintained products rather than one-off presentations or readouts.
• Experience owning a roadmap, making decisions independently, and interfacing directly with senior executives.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including explaining complex analytical work to non-technical leaders.
• Strong judgment with sensitive data, including data quality, access control, privacy, validation, and clear communication of uncertainty.

Nice to have

• Experience with Apache Flink.
• Curiosity about people, organizations, and what drives them.
• Experience in a startup or other small, generalist environment involving multiple responsibilities.
• Background in data engineering, analytics engineering, product data science, or another quantitative builder path.
