Engineering Manager - Edge Infrastructure

What you will do

• Lead and grow a senior engineering team responsible for the edge layer carrying hirify.global storefront traffic into its infrastructure.
• Translate high-level direction into technical vision, executable projects, and architecture decisions.
• Own edge resilience and design graceful behavior when internet components fail.
• Drive routing, traffic, bot, DDoS, DoS, rate-limiting, and cost-to-serve strategies at high request volumes.
• Set direction across DNS, TLS, mTLS, certificate management, PKI, and underlying protocols while partnering with technical leads and infrastructure teams.
• Coach senior engineers, hire software engineers, and prepare the edge for peak events such as BFCM.

Requirements

• Experience leading engineers while remaining technically involved in systems and architecture.
• Hands-on understanding of edge or traffic infrastructure and how requests travel from browsers into company systems.
• Depth in one or more of CDNs at scale, reverse proxies, L4/L7 load balancing, anycast, points of presence, and origin architecture.
• Strong knowledge of lower-level network protocols, DNS, TLS, mTLS, certificate management, and PKI.
• Experience with WAF, DDoS and DoS mitigation, rate limiting, bot management, and network security.
• Experience building or owning a platform layer, including the ability to explain design decisions and trade-offs.
• Comfort working with systems and state at large-company scale and passing a senior-level technical interview.
• Production software engineering experience, including writing and shipping code.
• Experience developing engineers, including supporting progression into leadership, and working effectively through ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with modern proxy architecture such as Envoy or Istio.
• Experience writing edge code with Envoy filters, VCL, Lua, or equivalent technologies.
• Open-source contributions in edge, proxy, or networking.
• Experience reducing cost-to-serve on high-volume traffic or mitigating attacks at very high request volumes.
• Experience in internet commerce and handling calendar-driven traffic spikes.
