Backend Developer (PHP/Laravel)

Location: Remote; candidates considered only in AL, AZ, CO, DC, FL, GA, IL, IN, LA, MA, MD, MI, MS, NC, NJ, NY, OH, PA, TN, TX, UT, VA, WA, and WI.

Base salary: $100,000–$140,000 per year.

What you will do

• Own the Lead Service platform end to end, including production deployments, release management, monitoring, triage, and queue-based processing.
• Maintain and extend integrations with ATS vendors including Tenstreet, ADP, UKG Pro, RecruiterFlow, and Paycom.
• Manage web-scraping workflows, scraping capacity, job-family mapping, and improvements that make scraping more efficient and self-serviceable.
• Own the architecture connecting scraped and API-sourced jobs to the internal job distribution platform, including XML feed generation and synchronization.
• Ensure salary, requisition, hiring-status, and job metadata are transferred correctly across vendor feeds.
• Respond to lead-export and integration escalations, coordinate with DevOps, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

• 5–8 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience operating in management-level or staff-engineering-level roles, with ownership of technical direction and trade-off decisions.
• Strong PHP and Laravel experience, including queues, Horizon, middleware, scheduled jobs, and Artisan commands.
• Experience deploying, monitoring, and troubleshooting production platforms, including on-call triage.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs.
• MySQL experience with schema design, query optimization, and relational data modeling.
• Strong communication skills with stakeholders, external clients, vendors, and team members.
• Ability to work independently with low supervision on ambiguous problems and adapt design principles to stakeholder needs.
• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with web-scraping tools and infrastructure.
• AWS experience with S3, IAM, RDS, and SFTP.
• Redis and queue-based architecture experience.
• Experience in recruiting, staffing, HR technology, ATS, or a similar domain.
• Vue.js or another frontend framework.
• Ability to discover and share tools and technologies that improve work quality and efficiency.

Hiring process
