Backend Developer (PHP/Node.js)

Location: Madrid, Spain; hybrid work with home office and an office on Gran Vía.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable e-commerce applications using PHP and modern web technologies including Node.js.
• Develop integrations, APIs, and backend services as part of the digital commerce ecosystem.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX designers, business stakeholders, and engineering teams.
• Participate in architecture discussions and help shape the global e-commerce landscape.
• Maintain code quality through code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience as a PHP and Node developer.
• PHP 8.2+, Node, JavaScript, TypeScript, and SCSS.
• Experience with Symfony and SQL, including PostgreSQL.
• Experience with cloud environments, preferably Azure as well as AWS.
• Clean code, SOLID principles, and architectural patterns.
• Experience with template engines, specifically Twig.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Motivation to drive innovation and improvements in digital commerce.
• Proactive, solution-oriented, and self-driven mindset.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of B2B e-commerce environments, preferably Spryker.
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks such as React or Vue.js.
• Knowledge of Atomic Design, Web Components, and Webpack.
• Experience with Codeception, Elasticsearch, RabbitMQ, and Redis.
• Scrum or Kanban knowledge.
• CI/CD and GitHub knowledge.
• Experience creating and integrating external APIs, SOAP web services with XML, and REST.
• Experience with observability platforms and monitoring solutions such as Splunk.
