Senior Backend Developer (PHP)

Location: Remote; applications accepted only from candidates based in Germany, Armenia, France or the UK.

A software product company develops a shared 2D/3D environment for architects, engineers, contractors, and owners working on complex construction and infrastructure projects.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reliable, high-performance backend services and applications using PHP and Symfony.
• Develop and optimize solutions for large-scale data processing, including datasets reaching tens of terabytes.
• Contribute to backend architecture and implement new features based on product and business requirements.
• Identify performance bottlenecks, optimize database interactions, and improve application efficiency, reliability, and scalability.
• Collaborate with frontend developers, product designers, QA engineers, and other stakeholders to deliver product features.
• Investigate complex technical issues, participate in code reviews and architectural discussions, and maintain clean, efficient, well-structured code.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience in web service development with a strong focus on backend engineering.
• Strong proficiency in PHP 8 and Symfony 5+, including practical experience with Doctrine ORM.
• Experience designing and developing complex backend systems, including high-load applications, large-scale data processing, and systems with complex business logic.
• Expert-level knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, and the ELK stack: Elasticsearch, Logstash, and Kibana.
• Understanding of Vue, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS for effective collaboration with frontend development teams.
• Proficiency in Unix-like operating systems and development environments.

• Knowledge of PHP internals and underlying mechanisms.
