AI Tutor (Amharic)

Location: Remote; may be performed from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, or Australia. Travel to a site may be required. US-based candidates cannot be hired in Wyoming or Illinois.

Salary: US-based candidates receive $35–$45 per hour. International compensation details are provided during recruitment.

What you will do

• Annotate, label, and provide feedback on multilingual audio clips, voice recordings, and speech samples using proprietary tools.
• Translate and localize UI copy, prompts, responses, and other content from English into Amharic.
• Produce clear, natural audio data that captures pronunciation, intonation, rhythm, accent, and other prosodic details.
• Collaborate with technical staff to refine annotation guidelines and tools for accents, background noise, speech variation, and multilingual audio.
• Help train and refine Grok’s Amharic voice and language capabilities.

Requirements

• Amharic proficiency at CEFR C1 level or higher.
• English proficiency at CEFR B2 level or higher.

Nice to have

• Native proficiency in Amharic.
• English proficiency at CEFR C1 level or higher.
• Advanced transcription or audio annotation experience, including attention to accents, prosody, disfluencies, and variable recording quality.
• Translation or localization experience between English and Amharic, especially for UI, product copy, or conversational text.
• Voice recording, voice acting, podcasting, or related audio production experience demonstrating clear delivery and attention to sound quality.
• Background in linguistics, phonetics, speech sciences, or hands-on experience with speech/audio datasets and AI training data.
