Mechanical Design Engineer (Defense)

Location: UK - Lincoln; onsite role at a fully licensed site

What you will do

• Develop innovative, cost-effective mechanical solutions for new and existing high-reliability, safety-critical products within a multidisciplinary team.
• Analyze existing product changes, including material impacts, supplier tolerances, and changing requirements.
• Make design decisions based on modern manufacturing techniques, tolerancing, and product environmental requirements.
• Work with sales and development teams to understand requirements for future customer bids.
• Liaise with internal and external suppliers to ensure materials and designs meet specifications, tolerances, and design parameters.
• Participate in design reviews and contribute to product data packs, communicating requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

• Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience using 3D design software, ideally AutoCAD Inventor.
• Experience designing mechanical products with Design for Manufacture as a priority.
• Experience designing to component level.
• Exposure or ability to communicate with external customers and suppliers.
• Adaptability, strong attention to detail, and a quality-focused mindset.
• Computer literacy with Microsoft platforms including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Ability to manage personal time and workload.

Nice to have

• Exposure to safety-critical design requirements.
• Understanding of FEA and associated software packages.
