Software Developer Co-op (Frontend)

Location: Toronto, Canada; hybrid work with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Toronto office. The co-op runs from January through August 2027 for 8 months, 40 hours per week.

Base pay: CAD 66,000–125,500 per year. The position may also be eligible for a cash bonus, equity rewards, and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, develop, and test responsive web UI components with React and mobile experiences for iOS and Android using a server-driven UI platform.
• Use Java and cloud-based APIs to integrate frontend and mobile experiences with backend services.
• Contribute to technical discussions, design decisions, requirements gathering, technical specifications, and test plans.
• Collaborate with designers, UX specialists, and backend engineers to improve customer experiences.
• Write tests, participate in code reviews, debug defects, and improve CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling.
• Learn and share new technologies and explore innovative solutions, including AI-assisted development.

Requirements

• Active enrollment in a post-secondary education program and a graduation date after the co-op term ends.
• Availability for an 8-month co-op term from January through August 2027, working 40 hours per week.
• Legal eligibility to work in Canada for the full co-op term without requiring sponsorship now or in the future.
• Ability to work in the Toronto office at least 3 days per week.
• Experience building responsive, dynamic web applications with React and a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript.
• Experience with Java, object-oriented design, core data structures, and programming concepts.
• Experience developing for iOS or Android using Swift, Kotlin, Java, or Objective-C, or with React Native or Flutter; coursework and personal projects count.
• Ability to collaborate with designers, UX specialists, and backend engineers while focusing on customer experience.
• Comfort using AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude Code, or Cursor for building and prototyping, with the ability to verify their output.
• Structured problem-solving and debugging skills, including knowing when to ask for help.
• Ownership of projects from start to finish, clear progress communication, and a commitment to continued learning.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with Git, Agile practices, cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP, or open-source contributions.
