Senior Applied Scientist (Agentic AI)

What you will do

• Design agentic systems, including orchestration, planning, and tool-use methods for reliable workflows.
• Research and develop agentic AI and NLP capabilities for deep research, retrieval, information extraction, and information enrichment.
• Improve system performance using execution traces, user feedback, and fine-tuning.
• Build benchmarks, simulators, annotation workflows, evaluation suites, and adversarial tests to identify failure modes and measure progress.
• Own projects from problem definition and data through experimentation and validation, partnering with engineering through deployment.
• Identify risks, challenge ideas constructively, solve complex technical problems, and mentor other researchers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of hands-on AI/ML experience, owning multiple projects from problem definition through real-world use; relevant industry and military R&D experience is valued.
• Deep generative AI and NLP expertise, including experience developing agentic or complex machine learning systems at scale.
• MSc or PhD in a relevant field, or equivalent research accomplishments.
• Strong Python and PyTorch or JAX skills, with experience building data, training, and evaluation pipelines.
• Ability to connect model, tool, and workflow behavior to overall system performance and make sound technical trade-offs.
• Independent ownership, comfort with ambiguity, and rigorous, reproducible evaluation within security and compliance constraints.

• Experience with simulator design.
