Spacecraft Avionics Test Engineer II (Spacecraft Avionics)

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. The role requires hiring U.S. persons authorized to access export-controlled technology.

Salary: $119,543–$172,673 per year, plus eligibility for long-term incentives through stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

• Design, build, and operate test systems for spacecraft avionics components and assemblies during environmental stress and component acceptance testing.
• Develop Python software for test procedures, data analysis, pass/fail assessment, and test report generation.
• Collaborate with component Responsible Engineers to define test cases and testing strategies for avionics products operating under extreme conditions.
• Create test plans and manage qualification, acceptance, and proto-flight tests for flight hardware.
• Work with avionics test systems, manufacturing, avionics systems, and flight software engineers to standardize test software, interfaces, reporting, and Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds.
• Improve engineering practices, test automation, and testing efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in system validation, component testing, or test software development.
• Proficiency in programming and debugging with Python.
• Experience with electronics test equipment, including power supplies, DAQ systems, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
• Familiarity with thermocouples, RTDs, and 4–20mA sensors.
• Proficiency with Git source control.

Nice to have

• Experience establishing Hardware-in-the-Loop testbeds, managing configuration control, and operating system-level tests.
• Familiarity with Unix environments.
• Experience developing test cases and test equipment for vehicle operating conditions.
• Experience operating vibration shakers, TVAC chambers, or thermal chambers.
• Strong project or program management skills.
