Design Engineer (AI)

Location: On-site offices in San Francisco or Singapore; remote candidates accepted in Asia, North America, and the rest of the world with 70-80% working-hours overlap with either San Francisco or Singapore time zones. Relocation and visa support are available for strong full-time candidates moving to the US or Singapore.

Base salary: $100,000-$225,000 per year, adjusted for experience and location. San Francisco and other major US cities: $130,000-$225,000; Singapore and rest of world: $100,000-$170,000.

What you will do

• Design and build interfaces across the platform and marketplace from early concepts through shipped product.
• Make agent runs, evaluation results, reward signals, and quality feedback understandable and actionable.
• Work with research and engineering to turn complex reinforcement learning and evaluation workflows into useful tools.
• Talk with users, observe their difficulties, and improve the product based on feedback.
• Develop reusable interaction patterns while maintaining high usability, visual quality, and implementation standards.

Requirements

• Strong product and interaction design judgment, especially for complex tools or workflows.
• Front-end engineering skills and the ability to turn designs into working product interfaces.
• A record of shipping products, learning from users, and improving what was built.
• Ability to understand technical concepts well enough to present them clearly to users.
• Good judgment about when to ship quickly and when an experience needs more care.
• Clear communication and comfort working closely with engineers, researchers, and users.
• Technical aptitude and learning potential are prioritized over a specific number of years of experience.

Nice to have

• Experience designing developer tools, data-rich products, or research software.
• Familiarity with AI agents, evaluations, reinforcement learning, or training data.
• Experience creating reusable interface patterns as a product grows.
• Experience working independently in an early-stage company.
