Senior Data Center Engineer (Hardware Infrastructure)

Location: San Mateo, California, United States; office-based roles are onsite Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with optional presence on Monday and Friday. Domestic and international travel is required 25–50% of the time for physical data center deployments and scaling.

Salary: $162,950–$195,900 USD base pay per year, plus eligible equity compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain Edge Data Center and hardware infrastructure supporting large-scale, real-time platform requirements.
• Manage server, network, power, and environmental infrastructure life cycles, including installation, provisioning, monitoring, break-fix, decommissioning, and maintenance.
• Track and mitigate systemic issues preventing hosts from returning to service, perform root cause analysis, and recommend automation improvements.
• Create and improve development platforms, infrastructure standards, runbooks, SOPs, MOPs, and operational methods for scalability and high availability.
• Coordinate with engineering peers, vendors, partners, and third-party contractors while improving data center operating practices and outsourced project quality.
• Participate in the critical infrastructure on-call rotation and support domestic and global edge data center deployments.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of experience working in large-scale data center infrastructure environments, including remote edge deployments and coordination with smart hands or third-party contractors.
• Extensive experience installing, monitoring, and maintaining server and network equipment, including provisioning new server and network systems.
• In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment.
• Experience executing multiple tasks simultaneously and organizing work around emergent, high-impact issues.
• Experience installing equipment commonly used in data centers.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds occasionally.
• Willingness to travel and work onsite to build domestic and global edge data centers.
• Ability to formulate problems, evaluate multiple solutions, use data to test hypotheses, and implement effective solutions.
• Professionalism and ability to build trust with internal and external partners in cross-functional initiatives.
