TL;DR
Software Engineer (Autonomous Vehicles): Building and integrating production software for autonomous vehicles across embedded compute, sensors, networks, and distributed robotic systems with an accent on vehicle bring-up, hardware-software integration, and reusable platform frameworks. Focus on diagnosing complex integration issues, developing diagnostics and reliability tooling, and enabling safe deployment across multiple vehicle programs.

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid working with in-person collaboration in offices and remote work. The role includes hands-on work in vehicle workshops and labs and work at international test locations.

Company

What you will do

  • Support software bring-up on benches, Hardware-in-the-Loop systems, and vehicles, including at international test locations.
  • Develop and maintain vehicle-facing software components, shared frameworks, diagnostics, tooling, and reliability metrics.
  • Diagnose integration issues across software and hardware boundaries using logs, telemetry, on-target tests, and systematic experimentation.
  • Identify architectural improvements that reduce bespoke work and improve reuse across vehicle programs.
  • Produce documentation and runbooks for long-term supportability.
  • Collaborate with hardware, safety, controls, calibration, and reliability teams.

Requirements

  • Strong software-development experience in C++, Python, or Rust.
  • Production-quality software experience on Linux-based robotic, embedded, or automotive platforms.
  • Understanding of ROS2 or similar robotics middleware and distributed-system integration.
  • Hands-on experience integrating software with vehicle or embedded hardware.
  • Ability to diagnose complex problems using logs, telemetry, on-target tests, and systematic experimentation.
  • Understanding of vehicle sensors, networking, and the practical realities of platform bring-up.

Nice to have

  • Experience with drive-by-wire systems, CAN tools, shared frameworks, Hardware-in-the-Loop or simulation, functional safety, technical documentation, or observability.

Culture & Benefits

  • Hybrid working with core hours and hands-on access to vehicle workshops and labs.
  • Relocation support and visa sponsorship where applicable.
  • Learning and development budgets supporting training, conferences, and growth.
  • Comprehensive benefits including health insurance, dental coverage, enhanced maternity and paternity leave, retirement or pension where applicable, therapy access, wellbeing partnerships, and team socials.
  • Meaningful equity and annually benchmarked salaries.
  • An evolving working environment with significant ownership in shaping processes and ways of working.

Hiring process

  • Initial recruiter screen lasting 25 minutes.
  • Competency interviews covering programming and technical domain knowledge, lasting 2 hours.
  • Deep-dive technical interviews covering programming, software design, and hiring-manager or team fit, lasting 3 hours, followed by a 30-minute final mission and values interview.
