Systems Engineer (Storage and Backup)

Location: Must reside within commutable distance of Richmond, VA or Tracy, CA and work onsite full time.

Salary: $110,000+ annually.

What you will do

• Provision, install, configure, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot systems hardware, software, storage infrastructure, and related components.
• Engineer, integrate, and oversee storage arrays, fiber switches, SAN environments, backup solutions, file-sharing technologies, and associated systems across on-premises and cloud environments.
• Monitor and report on data restore and disaster-recovery capabilities while maintaining backup solutions against mission requirements.
• Perform storage analysis, capacity planning, performance planning, equipment checks, and preventative maintenance.
• Provide technical guidance and hands-on support for planning, implementation, operations, research, and development.
• Document configurations, specifications, project plans, test results, policies, procedures, best practices, and recommended technology improvements; communicate complex designs and project status to varied audiences.

Requirements

• Three years of overall professional engineering experience, including evaluating, constructing, and integrating enterprise-level storage and backup software technologies.
• Two years of hands-on enterprise SAN management experience, including Fiber Channel zoning, iSCSI, FCoE unified fabric, HBA/CNA, storage controllers, LUN, RAID, and file sharing/NAS.
• Hands-on experience managing enterprise hierarchical storage systems and operating enterprise backup/restore services using technologies such as Veritas NetBackup and Cohesity Cloud.
• Two years of hands-on experience working with Department of War IT systems.
• Top Secret clearance, or Secret clearance with a favorably adjudicated Tier 5/SSBI investigation.
• A compliant DoD 8570 IAT II certification, such as CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP, CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP, GCED, or GCIH.
• One current certification: AWS CSA Associate, AWS CSA Professional, GIAC GDSA, MC: Azure AA, MC: Azure SAE, NetApp Certified Data Administrator, NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Implementation Engineer, NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Architect, NetApp Certified Hybrid Cloud Administrator, NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer - SAN Specialist, ONTAP, NetApp Certified Technology Associate, Pure Certified Data Storage Associate, Pure Certified FlashArrayTM Implementation Specialist, or Veritas Certified Specialist – NetBackup.
• Ability to work from a computer for extended hours in an office environment and from comm closets when needed.
