Enterprise Assurance Services Intern (Audit, Risk and Controls)

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid work with in-person attendance required at least three days per week at a hirify.global office or client site. Initial target markets may also include New York, Dallas, Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Seattle.

Salary: $37 per hour.

What you will do

• Support planning and execution of client engagements by understanding objectives, processes, risks, and control environments.
• Evaluate and test business process controls, IT controls, automated controls, cybersecurity controls, and technology-enabled processes.
• Support IT audit, SOC and attestation, sustainability and ESG reporting, and Employee Benefit Plan audit engagements from planning through completion.
• Analyze quantitative and qualitative data, perform walkthroughs, collect evidence, and document testing results and control deficiencies.
• Use data analytics tools and AI-enabled technologies to improve analysis, identify insights, and support engagement conclusions.
• Prepare workpapers, reports, client communications, and other deliverables while collaborating with client personnel and cross-functional engagement teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum overall GPA of 3.0/4.0.
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities, including the ability to assess risks, evaluate controls, and interpret complex information.
• Experience or interest in data analytics, data visualization, and data-driven decision-making.
• Familiarity with AI-enabled tools and emerging technologies.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Ability to adapt to evolving client challenges, collaborate with cross-functional and geographically diverse teams, work additional hours when required, and travel as necessary.
• Commitment to continuous learning in technology risk, controls assurance, sustainability reporting, employee benefit plan auditing, cybersecurity, and emerging reporting frameworks, along with a strong client-service mindset.

Nice to have

• CPA eligibility for Employee Benefit Plan, ESG, and certain assurance-focused roles.
• Interest in pursuing the CPA, CISA, CIA, or another relevant professional certification.
