Senior Counsel I - Consumer Banking (Fintech)

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid)

Salary: $180,000–$220,000

What you will do

• Serve as the primary legal reviewer for marketing, advertising, promotional offers, and customer communications, partnering with Marketing, Compliance, and business teams.
• Draft, review, and negotiate sponsorship agreements and marketing-related contracts.
• Review and advise on consumer-facing agreements, disclosures, notices, and forms.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and assess their impact on business strategy.
• Advise on payments-related third-party relationships, contracts, network rules, and operating requirements.
• Advise on laws and standards applicable to consumer banking products, including the Truth in Savings Act, Expedited Funds Availability Act, Electronic Fund Transfer Act, Truth in Lending Act, and Unfair Deceptive and Abusive Acts and Practices Act.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
• Active license to practice law in New York State required.
• 5–8 years of legal experience gained at a law firm, government agency, bank, or other financial institution, including experience advising on legal and regulatory matters related to consumer or retail banking.
• Experience advising on digital banking platforms and electronic payment systems.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a highly regulated and evolving environment.
• Ability to work independently and proactively, prioritize responsibilities, and manage workload.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detail-oriented and well organized.
