Vice President, Physical Ground Segment

Location: Los Angeles, CA, United States; on-site

Base salary: $240,000–$325,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the physical ground segment, including antenna systems, RF, hardware build, deployment, and the engineering organization.
• Own the deployment pipeline from build and site integration through installation and commissioning.
• Drive manufacturability and production readiness through DFM/DFA, test strategy, cost discipline, and repeatable production.
• Partner on system architecture and detailed design reviews, making trade-offs among performance, cost, schedule, manufacturing, and field reliability.
• Own supply-chain and manufacturing strategy, including vendor selection, make-or-buy decisions, and production partnerships.
• Build and lead the hardware and deployment organization, define its structure and technical standards, and develop the roadmap from antenna deployments to full ground station buildouts.

Requirements

• Background as a mechanical or systems engineer with experience shipping ambitious electromechanical hardware involving motors, precision motion, and outdoor-capable structures.
• Experience with relevant systems such as pointing and tracking systems, gimbals, positioners, outdoor robotics, or satcom hardware.
• Experience taking hardware from working prototype through repeatable production and field deployment.
• Experience deploying hardware into uncontrolled environments, including weather, remote sites, and real installation logistics.
• Experience building and leading hardware organizations while remaining technically credible and able to discuss shipped systems in depth.
• Ability to direct RF work and hire RF talent, with sufficient systems fluency to make integration decisions across RF, mechanical, and software disciplines.
• U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligibility to obtain the necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations for ITAR compliance.
• Ability to work on-site in Los Angeles, California.
