Research Technician (Infection Biology)

Location: Onsite at Oxford Road, Manchester, Greater Manchester, United Kingdom. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK. This role is not eligible for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.

Salary: £30,180–£31,861 per annum, depending on relevant experience.

What you will do

• Independently perform grant-funded laboratory experiments investigating the fundamental mechanisms of polymicrobial interactions in the lungs.
• Contribute to experimental design and consultation with other researchers.
• Conduct primary and immortalised cell culture, microorganism culture involving fungi and viruses, immunoassays, imaging, and transcriptomic analyses.
• Analyze, present, and report experimental data.
• Contribute to the maintenance, use, and teaching of research-associated equipment.
• Support staff and students in following safe working practices and laboratory health and safety requirements.

Requirements

• Essential experience in mammalian cell culture.
• Knowledge and experience of establishing and maintaining primary cell cultures.
• Experience with microbiological techniques.
• Ability to independently perform laboratory experiments and contribute to experimental design, data analysis, presentation, and reporting.
• Ability to support safe working practices and health and safety compliance within a laboratory.
• Organised, enthusiastic, and highly committed approach to laboratory-based research.
