Associate Scientist, Flow Cytometry (Flow Cytometry)

Location: Frederick, MD, USA; onsite laboratory work. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Salary: $83,200–$124,800 USD per year, plus discretionary annual bonus.

What you will do

• Develop, validate, and execute flow cytometry and other immune assays according to SOPs.
• Perform experiments independently, analyze data accurately, and prepare data presentations and reports.
• Establish, improve, and document laboratory procedures and SOPs.
• Identify, update, and implement emerging laboratory techniques while supporting safe laboratory practices.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior staff and act as a scientific resource for clients and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare validation protocols, contribute to contract and grant proposals, and present completed work at scientific meetings and in publications.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, or a related field with at least 2 years of relevant laboratory experience, or bachelor’s degree in one of these fields with at least 8 years of relevant laboratory experience.
• Experience with flow cytometry assays using whole blood or isolated cells.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to organize and analyze data and assist with report preparation.
• Strong computational skills; preferred experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, GraphPad Prism, Diva, and FlowJo.
• Sound judgment and discretion, fluent English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension.
• Ability to differentiate colors across the full color spectrum and perform the listed physical duties, including lifting 1–15 lbs., lifting up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance, frequent sitting, grasping, and finger dexterity, and working around freezer temperatures from -20°C to -196°C.
• Availability for occasional extended work hours to meet business demands.

Nice to have

• Understanding of current GLP, GDP, or CAP/CLIA/ISO standards.
• Experience with FACS techniques.
• Experience in cell-mediated immunity through flow cytometry, ELISpot, ELISA, MSD, and/or Luminex.
